The First State, Delaware, is perfectly located a maximum of two hours from three major metropolises--Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington D.C. With beaches covering the vast majority of Delaware's atlantic coast, we are a delightful vacation spot for city dwellers and locals alike. Our state bird, the blue hen, is also the mascot of the University of Delaware. However, our focus on education does not stop there; we also are home to Delaware Technical and Community College, Delaware State University and Wilmington University. With a renewed commitment to patient safety, Delaware is one of the final states to form a State Assembly of the Association of Surgical Technologists.
